Course Objectives:
The student will increase their ability to observe natural phenomenon, collect and analyze data, while gaining an understanding of our world and universe.
Units of Study: Planet Earth – Geology – Astronomy – Oceanography – Meteorology
Grading: Grades will be based on total accumulated points earned on: quizzes (announced and unannounced), tests, projects, lab work, homework and participation. A small amount of extra credit will be available each quarter. There will be no retaking of any assignments, tests or quizzes. Each student is responsible for their own work. Grades will be assigned as follows:
A = 100-94% A- 90-93% B+ - 87-89% B – 83-86% B- - 80-82% C+ - 77-79% C - 73-77% C- -70-72% D+ 67-69% D – 63-66% D- - 60-62% NG (F) – 0-59%
Supplies: Each student will need a writing utensil and a spiral notebook every day. Calculators will be used at times. Positive attitude is a must!!!
Attendance: School policy will be followed regarding excused/unexcused absences and tardiness. Students are responsible for getting all work missed.
Cheating: Cheating will not be tolerated. A zero for the assignment will be given.
Plagiarism: Learn what this means and avoid it at all costs. First offense is a warning; second offense will result in a zero.
